Dr Who is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running science fiction series in the world! First screened in 1963, Dr Who has become a classic property with huge family appeal.
The successful re-launch of Dr Who in 2005 introduced the return of original monsters – the Daleks and Cybermen, to terrify today’s children and adults in brand new gripping storylines. Since this re-launch Doctor Who has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British programmes, including a BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006. In 2008 David Tennant's portrayal of the Doctor won him the Outstanding Drama Performance at the National Television Awards and the series won Most Popular Drama. Whilst the main writer Russell T Davis received an OBE from the queen!
The excitement and popularity still grows with each new series! In 2009 there will be 3 feature length specials and series 5 will be shown in 2010 with the brand new doctor Matt Smith.
