Gladiators
UK Gladiators arrived on our TV screens in 1992. The show was a massive success and aired for the final time on 1st January 2000, but due to huge demand the show was revived in 2008 by Sky One. Gladiator’s was one of Britain's biggest success stories. The home of Gladiators, Birmingham's 'National Indoor Arena', held 7,000 fans and often attracted 14 million viewers!
As word of this exciting new concept in sports entertainment reached the four corners of the globe, other countries began creating their own versions of the show. Australia, South Africa, Russia, Finland, Germany, Nigeria, Denmark and Sweden- everyone was getting in on the act. Gladiator’s was truly taking the world by storm! The UK series was often sited at the ultimate Gladiators show of them all with worldwide Gladiator teams flocked to the UK series for International Gladiators. The return of Gladiators has proved to be a massive success for Sky One with a series viewing average of 1.4 million.
The 2nd series commenced in January 2009 with original episodes repeated on Sky One and Sky Two. Challenge TV and Virgin 1 are also showing the entire run of original Gladiators series.
